Speed Control Relay Test

Fig. 78 Speed Control Relay:

Fig. 79 Engine Controller Connector:

1. With ignition switch in Off position, remove speed control power relay located in the instrument panel relay bank.
2. With ignition switch in On position, measure voltage at pin 4 of the relay connector.
3. If voltage is less than 10 volts, check fuse or repair open wire between relay and fuse panel or between ignition and fuse panel.
4. Remove speed control relay from relay bank and measure resistance between terminals H2 and H5. If resistance is greater than 100 ohms, replace the relay.
5. With ignition switch in Off position, disconnect engine controller. Measure resistance between engine controller connector terminal 55 and relay connector terminal H4.
6. If resistance is greater than 10 ohms, repair open circuit.
7. With ignition in Off position, measure resistance between engine controller connector terminal 55 and ground. If resistance is less than 10 ohms, repair wire for a short to ground.
8. If resistance is above 10 ohms, replace the engine controller.
