DISCUSSION:

An adapter wiring harness has been developed to allow trailer lights to be connected to the Premier electronically controlled lighting and turn signal system. The harness is equipped with relays to protect the circuitry in the headlamp and lamp outage module (if equipped). This is the only approved method of connecting trailer lights to a Premier.

Two different electrical systems are used on the 1991 Premier. The different electrical systems can be identified by build date or by the twelfth position of the VIN. Vehicles built prior to October 9, 1990 are designated as early built vehicles and have a seven in the twelfth position of the VIN. Vehicles built on or before October 9, 1991 are designated as late built vehicles and have an eight in the twelfth position of the VIN.
