Fuel Pump Relay: Description and Operation
Engine Relay Location And Identification:
The fuel pump relay is mounted on the left strut tower. Relay voltage is supplied by the ignition circuit. The Electronic Control Unit (ECU) controls the relay by applying or taking away the relay ground. When the ground is applied, the relay is energized, and voltage is supplied to the fuel pump, fuel injectors and EGR solenoid circuits. As a safety precaution, in the event that the vehicle stalls, or no tach signal is received by the ECU the ECU interrupts the ground to the relay, halting fuel pump operation.
