Service Procedure

1. From inside the vehicle, remove the lower instrument panel cover and carpet pad located below the steering column.
2. Remove the plastic cover at the base of the steering column.
3. Disconnect the throttle cable end from the accelerator pedal rod.
4. In the engine compartment, disengage the cable housing from the clip at the rear of the engine compartment.
5. Disconnect the cable from the throttle plate.
6. Disengage the cable from the bracket on the valve cover and remove the throttle cable from the vehicle.
7. Install the supplied new cable following the above procedure in reverse.
8. Adjust the throttle cable as follows:





^ With the accelerator pedal fully depressed to the floor, the spring should be compressed to 3 mm (approximately 3/32" to 1/8") from the edge of the spring housing (see illustrations).

^ If necessary, move the retaining clip to adjust the cable to the above specification.

Note:
After adjustment check to be sure the interior carpet does not interfere with accelerator pedal operation.
