Throttle Body Replacement


Throttle Body:




REMOVAL
1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal, before removing fuel injection components. Remove fuel filler cap.
2. Remove the air cleaner bonnet.
3. Disconnect fuel lines by squeezing retainer tabs and pulling straight out.
NOTE: The retainers stay on the fuel tubes.

Throttle Body:




4. Disconnect and remove the throttle cable and the fuel injector wire harness connector. Compress the lock tabs, and lift up to release the connector.
5. Disconnect the cruise control cable (if equipped).
6. Disconnect the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) and Idle Speed Control (ISC) motor wire connectors.
7. Disconnect the vacuum connector from the side of the throttle body.
8. Remove the support brace from the cable bracket, if equipped.
9. Remove the throttle body to manifold mounting bolts, and remove the throttle body. Clean the throttle body, and intake manifold surfaces, and remove all old gasket materials.

INSTALLATION
1. Install the throttle body assembly on the intake manifold, with a new gasket, and torque the mounting bolts to 4 N-m (35 lb-in)
2. Install the cable bracket support brace, if equipped.
3. Connect vacuum hoses to the side of the throttle body. Connect the fuel supply and return tubes, refer to quick-connect assembly.
4. Connect the TPS, and the ISC motor connectors. Connect the fuel injector wire harness.
5. Install the accelerator cable and return spring. Install the cruise control cable, if equipped.
6. Install the air cleaner bonnet assembly, and reconnect the battery negative terminal. Torque the battery terminal to 8.5 N-m (6.3 lb-ft).
NOTE: If the throttle body was replaced with a new unit, and/or the TPS, and ISC motor were removed, they need to be adjusted.
