Catalytic Converter: Description and Operation

These vehicles use a three-way catalytic converter to help reduce the emission of carbon monoxide, hydrocarbons, and oxides of nitrogen.
The converter serves two purposes. It permits a faster chemical reaction to take place and, although it enters into a chemical reaction, it remains relatively unchanged, ready to repeat the process.
