Service Procedure
Service Procedure
1. With the ignition key in the OFF position, disconnect the battery.
2. Open/remove the fuse panel cover, located in the lower instrument panel to the left of the steering column.
3. Remove the fuse block from its mount to gain access to the wiring on the backside of the fuse block.
Figure 1:
4. Locate the three wires (one red and two smaller red) routed to the back of the 30 amp heater-A/C blower motor fuse, (cavity # 15 on 1988 models and cavity # 16 on 1989 models, Figure 1). Remove the fuse from that cavity.
5. Cut the above three wires as close to the fuse holder as possible.
6. Strip about one inch of insulation from the vehicle wiring ends and from the supplied fuse holder wiring ends.
7. Slide a piece of supplied heat shrink tubing over each of the three wires.
8. Connect the fuse holder to the vehicle wiring by twisting the wiring ends together.
^ Connect the red fuse holder wire (10 gauge) to the red battery positive (B+) wire on the vehicle.
^ Connect the other two red fuse holder wires (14 gauge) to the two smaller red wires on the vehicle.
9. Solder the twisted wire ends using rosin core solder.
10. Slide the pieces of heat shrink tubing over each splice, centering the splice inside the tubing.
11. Shrink the tubing pieces with a heat gun to seal the splices.

Figure 3 (1989 Models):
12. 1988 models: Route the fuse holder to the outboard side of the fuse block as shown in Figure 2. Ensure that the fuse holder is even with the front edge of the fuse block. Tie wrap the fuse holder wiring to the wiring bundle behind the fuse block. Then secure the fuse block in its mount.
1989 models: Route the fuse holder under the fuse block as shown in Figure 3. Then secure the fuse block in its mount, trapping the fuse holder below the block. (A tie strap is not required on 1989 models.)

Figure 5:
13. Apply the supplied "Fuse Location Change" label to the inside fuse panel cover as shown in Figures 4 (1988 models) and 5 (1989 models).
14. Secure the fuse panel cover and reconnect the battery.
15. Check for proper operation of the A/C blower motor.
