Recall - Fuse Block Wiring Terminal Could Overheat: Overview
91amcjeep06
No. 507
November, 1991
To: All Jeep/Eagle Dealers
Subject: Safety Recall # 507 - Fuse Block Wiring Terminal
Models: 1988 and 1989 Model Year Renault/Eagle Medallion Equipped With Air
Conditioning
Fuse block wiring terminals on the listed model vehicles may not provide adequate clamp load for positive electrical connection of the A/C blower motor fuse blades. This may cause an increase in electrical resistance that could overheat, melt and possibly cause the fuse block and terminal wiring to burn.
To correct the condition, a new fuse holder must be installed, bypassing the original fuse block.
Vehicles which have already been corrected under warranty using Technical Service Bulletin # 08-55-90, (TSB Labor Operation Number 08-90-05-90) do not require further service for the condition and have been deleted from the recall.
Details of this service action are explained in the following sections.
Note: As an additional service aid, a videotape demonstrating the service procedure is included in the October, 1991 VideoTec program.
Vehicle List
Each dealer to whom involved vehicles were invoiced (or the current dealer at the same location) will receive a vehicle list with this letter arranged in Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) sequence. Owners known to Chrysler are also listed. The lists are for dealer reference in arranging for service of involved vehicles.
Each Jeep/Eagle dealer without a Vehicle List will receive an information copy of this letter by Compak Mail for use in performing the service on involved vehicles upon request.
