Fuel Pump Ballast Resistor Relay: Description and Operation


The purpose of the ballast resistor is to reduce fuel pump speed and noise once the engine is started. The resistor is bypassed through the bypass relay during engine cranking. The ballast resistor and bypass relay are located in the engine compartment above and behind the left headlamp.
