8805 - Trim Corrections

^ Loose Windshield Moldings -- All Models

Check for potential looseness by pulling at the molding across the top of the windshield. If the molding lifts out of its channel, correct as follows:

1. Remove the clip (A of Figure 1) from the center of the upper windshield trim molding.

2. Disconnect the left and right upper windshield moldings (B, Figure 1).

3. Move the upper windshield moldings down. Move them away from the upper windshield flange as shown, (Figure 1).

4. Remove the secondary molding (C of Figure 2) which holds the upper windshield molding in place.
5. Carefully clean the upper edge of the windshield (F, Figure 2). Use 3M Cleaner, P/N 08984, or equivalent.

6. With masking tape, mask off the upper edge of the roof panel at the windshield flange.

7. Apply 3M Super Fast Urethane, P/N 08609, to the upper edge of the windshield (D, Figure 2).

8. Install the secondary molding on the windshield.

9. Measure the gap between the secondary molding and the molding channel.

10. Select a vacuum hose which is a snug fit-in the molding channel gap.

11. Cut a 71 cm. (28 in.) length of vacuum hose.

12. Apply 3M Super Fast Urethane, P/N 08609, to the outside of the vacuum hose at several locations.

13. Center the length of vacuum hose (E, Figure 2) between the upper right and upper left corners of the windshield.

14. Squeeze the vacuum hose (E) into the molding channel.

15. Remove the masking tape from the roof panel.

16. Install the right and left side upper windshield trim moldings into the secondary molding.

17. Apply 3M Super Fast Urethane, P/N 08609, to the center clip, (A, Figure 1).

18. Install the center clip into the molding, securing it in place until the urethane is set.
^ Rear Door Exterior Trim Panels -- All Wagon Models

Rear door trim panels on station wagon models must be removed and then secured with adhesive to prevent panel separation. If a panel is missing, install a new panel, securing with adhesive. Use the appropriate P/N as follows:

P/N T0770274 (7700770274) - Left Side Panel P/N T0770275 (7700770275) - Right Side Panel

Note: This procedure applies to both the right and left rear doors.

^ Rear Door Exterior Trim Panels -- All Wagon Models (Continued)

1. Apply masking tape (A, Figure 1) to rear door as shown. This will protect the painted surface of the door from the bonding material.

2. Clean all dirt, wax, etc.from the trim panel area on the rear door. Use 3M General Purpose Cleaner, P/N 08984, or equivalent.

3. Apply adhesive (B, Figure 2) to the rear door exterior trim panel at the places shown. Use 3M Plastic and Emblem Adhesive, P/N 08061, or equivalent.

4. Press the trim panel in place.

5. Remove the trim panel from the door.

6. Inspect to see that the adhesive contacted the surface of the door.

7. Allow the adhesive to set for at least 15 seconds.

8. Position the trim panel back in place, (C, Figure 3).

9. Press firmly. Hold the trim panel in place for at least 10 seconds.

10. Allow the adhesive to set for at least 30 minutes.

Note: Use masking tape to hold the trim panel in place to prevent slippage.

11. Remove the masking tape from the trim panel.

12. Remove the masking tape from the door.
^ Third Seat Latch Release Knob -- Three Seat Wagon Models

On three seat wagon models only, the third seat release latch knob must be removed and then secured to its lever with 3M adhesive, P/N 08061.
