Roof Rack - Whistle Noise

INFORMATION

The ribbed skid strips in the roof rack crossrails on some 1983 Concord and Eagle wagons may cause a whistle noise at speeds above 35 mph. If this condition occurs, replace the ribbed crossrail skid strips with non-ribbed (smooth) strips as outlined in the following procedure.


PROCEDURE

1. Loosen the crossrail stanchion nuts and remove the crossrails and stanchions as assemblies.

2. Remove the stanchions from the crossrails.

3. Remove the ribbed skid strips from the crossrails and replace them with nonribbed (smooth) skid strips, P/N 89 35 006 275.

4. Reassemble and install the stanchions and crossrails.
