Oil Pan: Service and Repair


1. Disconnect battery ground cable, then remove fan shroud attaching screws and slide shroud toward engine.
2. Raise vehicle and support at frame side sills, then drain crankcase.
3. On Eagle models proceed as follows:
a. Using a suitable jack, support front axle.
b. Mark front drive shaft so it can be installed in the same position, then remove drive shaft.
c. Disconnect both half shafts from axle. Compress shafts inward, toward wheels, and secure to frame side sills with wire.
d. Disconnect axle assembly at righthand axle tube, at lefthand engine mount and at pinion mount.
e. Lower axle assembly slightly and disconnect vent tube, then remove axle assembly.
4. Remove starter motor, then remove flywheel housing inspection cover.
5. Remove engine mount to crossmember attaching nuts.
6. Position a suitable jack under vibration damper and raise engine approximately 1 to 2 inches.
7. Remove crossmember righthand nut and screws and loosen lefthand nut, then lower right side of front crossmember.
8. Remove oil pan attaching bolts, then pry crossmember downward on right side and remove oil pan.
9. Reverse procedure to install.
