The connecting rod journal is identified by a color coded paint mark on adjacent cheek or counterweight toward flanged (rear) end of crankshaft. Color codes used to indicate journal sizes and corresponding bearing sizes are listed in Fig. 15. Do not intermix the bearing caps. Each connecting rod and its bearing cap are stamped with the corresponding cylinder number.
