Ignition Cable - Installation
INSTALLATION
CAUTION: The 8.4L V10 engine requires heat shields on the ignition cable boots. The heat shields should always be used when replacing or removing the ignition cables. Failure to return the heat shield can cause damage to the ignition cables.
NOTE: When replacing the spark plug and coil cables, route the cables correctly and secure them in the proper retainers, if equipped. Failure to route the cables properly may cause the radio to reproduce ignition noise. It could also cause cross-ignition of the plugs, or, may short-circuit the cables to ground.
1. Make sure the heat shield is installed on the ignition cable boot at the spark plug. Install ignition cables to each of the spark plugs.
2. Install the ignition cables to each of the ignition coils.
3. Connect the negative battery cable, tighten the nut to 10 Nm (90 in. lbs.).
