Front Hub and Bearing - Description

DESCRIPTION

The wheel bearing used on the front of this vehicle is a unit type combined hub and bearing assembly (2). The hub and bearing is made up of the wheel mounting hub (flange) (1) and the wheel bearing. The hub has six wheel mounting studs (4) installed in it. It is held together using a clamp bolt and nut that is torqued and crimped in place when assembled. The clamp bolt is not serviceable and no attempt should ever be made to remove it from the hub and bearing.

The hub and bearing assembly is mounted to the steering knuckle and is retained by four mounting bolts accessible from the back of the knuckle.

The bearing requires no periodic maintenance. The hub and bearing is serviced as an assembly if the hub or bearing is determined to be defective. The wheel mounting studs may be replaced separately if necessary.
