Crankshaft - Inspection
INSPECTION
1. The crankshaft journals should be checked for excessive wear, taper and scoring or discoloration. Limits of taper or out-of-round on any crankshaft journals should be held to 0.005 mm (0.0002 in.). DO NOT nick crank pin or bearing fillets.
CAUTION: With the forged crankshafts it is important that the final paper or cloth polish be in the same direction as normal rotation in the engine.
2. Check and clean all oil holes for blockage and debris. After polishing, remove rough edges from crankshaft oil holes and clean out all passages with a brush.
