Adding Additional Coolant

ADDING ADDITIONAL COOLANT

WARNING: The warning words "DO NOT OPEN HOT" on the pressure cap is a safety precaution. When hot, pressure builds up in cooling system. To prevent scalding or injury, the pressure cap should not be removed while the system is hot or under pressure.

CAUTION: Do not use well water, or suspect water supply in cooling system. Use only a 50/50 mixture of the specified ethylene glycol type antifreeze/coolant and distilled water. Description and Operation.

When additional coolant is needed, it should be added to the coolant pressure bottle.

For coolant service schedules Maintenance.

1. Try squeezing the upper radiator hose to determine if the cooling system is still pressurized.
2. Place a shop towel over the pressure cap and turn to the first stop. Wait to see if any pressure is released. When no pressure is released, press down on the cap and turn to the second stop. Remove cap.
3. If there is some coolant in coolant pressure bottle, slowly fill coolant pressure bottle.

Do Not overfill the coolant pressure bottle. With the engine cold, the coolant level should be in the COLD FILL RANGE on coolant pressure bottle.
