Parking Brake Caliper - Removal
REMOVAL
NOTE: Review all Warnings and Cautions. Service Precautions
1. Block tire and wheel assemblies so vehicle does not move once vehicle parking brake lever released.
2. Fully apply parking brake lever.
3. Remove center console. Center Console - Removal
4. Lower parking brake lever handle to released position.
5. Grasp parking brake lever output cable by hand and pull upward. Continue pulling on cable until a screwdriver (pin punch or appropriate pin) (1) can be inserted through hole in left side of lever mechanism, behind sector gear (3) and out hole in right side of lever (2). This will lock parking brake automatic adjustment mechanism in place and take tension off parking brake cables.
6. Raise and support vehicle. Maintenance
7. Remove wheel and tire assembly. Tires and Wheels - Removal
8. Grasp parking brake cable (1) between pivot wheel and apply lever, then pull outward until enough slack is present to remove cable from pivot wheel.
9. Remove cable end from apply lever on caliper.
10. Remove cable from caliper bracket (2) holding cable housing (1).
11. Remove two bolts (4, 5) attaching parking brake caliper (3) to knuckle (1).
12. Remove parking brake caliper (3) from knuckle.
13. Remove hair pin (3) from brake pad retaining pin (1).
14. Using a pin punch (1), tap parking brake pad retaining pin (2) out of caliper.
15. Remove anti-rattle spring (4) and parking brake pads (2).
