3D Ignition Run 1 Short
3D-IGNITION RUN 1 SHORT
- When Monitored:
With the ignition on.
- Set Condition:
When the output is active and the BCM detects the Ignition 1 circuit is low for at least 10 seconds.
1. COMPONENT OR MODULE SHORT TO GROUND
NOTE: Repeat this test until either the DTC is no longer present or all of the modules and components are disconnected from the Fused Ignition Switch Output (Run) circuit and the DTC is still present.
1. Turn the ignition off.
2. This DTC may set with the component or module, or the Fused Ignition Switch Output (Run) or Ignition Feed circuits to any of the following:
3. HVAC Control - (F921) Fused Ignition Switch Output (Run) circuit
4. Occupant Restraint Controller (ORC fuse does not protect circuit) - (A22) Fused Ignition Switch Output (Run)
5. Multi-Function Switch - (F71) Ignition Feed
6. LED's in the following switches - (F71) Ignition Feed:
7. Power Mirror Switch
8. Right and Left Power Window Switches
9. Right and Left Power Lock Switches
NOTE: For the result of this test to be valid, disconnect only one component or module at time and then verify if the DTC is still present.
10. Using the wiring diagram/schematic as a guide, disconnect the harness connector with the Fused Ignition Switch Output (Run) circuit from one module or component identified above.
11. Turn the ignition on.
12. With the scan tool in Body Computer, erase BCM DTCs.
13. Cycle the ignition from On to Off.
14. Turn the ignition on.
15. With the scan tool, read DTCs.
Does the scan tool display IGNITION RUN 1 OUTPUT SHORT?
Yes
- Go To 2
No
- Replace the module or the component that when disconnected, allowed this DTC to clear.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test
2. ANY RUN 1 CIRCUIT SHORT TO GROUND
NOTE: All modules and components identified in Test Number 1 must be disconnected from the BCM's circuits and the DTC must still be present for the result of the test to be valid.
1. Turn the ignition off.
2. Disconnect the appropriate module or component harness connector.
3. Disconnect the BCM C2 and C3 harness connectors.
4. Using the wiring diagram/schematic as a guide, measure the resistance between ground and the appropriate circuit in the BCM harness connectors.
Is the resistance below 10k ohms on any of the circuits?
Yes
- Repair the appropriate Ignition circuit(s) for a short to ground.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test
No
- Replace and program the Body Control Module.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test
