Cluster Lamp Failure
CLUSTER LAMP FAILURE
- When Monitored:
Key ON. After Key-ON bulb check
- Set Condition:
When the instrument cluster informs the CAB that the cluster cannot turn on the ABS Lamp.
1. INSTRUMENT CLUSTER OR ABS DTC PRESENT
1. Turn the ignition on.
2. With the Scan Tool, read DTCs.
Are there any Instrument Cluster or ABS DTCs present?
Yes
- Refer to the appropriate category for the related symptom(s).
- Perform ABS VERIFICATION TEST.ABS Verification Test
No
- Go To 2
2. KEY-ON BULB CHECK
1. Turn the ignition off.
2. Perform the Key-on Bulb Check.
Does the ABS Warning Indicator light and then go out after a few seconds?
Yes
- Go To 3
No. Light remains after bulb check.
- Replace the Anti-Lock Brake Controller (CAB).
- Perform ABS VERIFICATION TEST.ABS Verification Test
No. Indicator never comes on.
- Go To 4
3. CAB - NO DTC SIGNAL TO THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER
NOTE: The Scan Tool communication with the CAB must be operational for the result of this test to be valid.
1. Turn the ignition off.
2. Remove ABS Valve fuse.
3. Perform the Key-on Bulb Check.
Does the ABS Indicator remain on after the bulb check?
Yes
- Replace the Instrument Cluster.
- Perform ABS VERIFICATION TEST.ABS Verification Test
No
- Replace the Anti-Lock Brake Controller (CAB).
- Perform ABS VERIFICATION TEST.ABS Verification Test
4. INSTRUMENT CLUSTER
NOTE: The following steps will initiate the Instrument Cluster self test.
1. Turn the ignition off.
2. Press and hold the odometer reset button.
3. Turn the ignition to RUN.
4. Observe the Instrument Cluster indicators.
5. Release the odometer reset button.
Did the ABS Indicator illuminate during the Instrument Cluster self test?
Yes
- Replace the Anti-Lock Brake Controller (CAB).
- Perform ABS VERIFICATION TEST.ABS Verification Test
No
- Replace the Instrument Cluster.
- Perform ABS VERIFICATION TEST.ABS Verification Test
