B1BA8
B1BA8-OCM SYSTEM OUT OF CALIBRATION/NOT CALIBRATED
Theory of Operation
When powered, the Occupant Classification Module (OCM) monitors the memory location containing the calibration flag. The calibration flag will be set (not calibrated) if the on board diagnostics determines that the OCM has not been calibrated, a new OCM is installed, the OCM Rezero Test failed, or the OCM Rezero process was not successfully completed.
- When Monitored:
When powered, the Occupant Classification Module (OCM) monitors the memory location containing the calibration flag.
- Set Condition:
This DTC will set if a new OCM is installed, or the OCM Rezero process was not successfully completed.
Always perform the Pre-Diagnostic Troubleshooting procedure before proceeding. Restraints System Pre-Diagnostic Procedure.
1. VERIFY POST DEPLOYMENT REPAIRS
NOTE: Ensure that the battery is fully charged.
NOTE: Verify that the scan tool has the latest software update before proceeding with this test.
NOTE: If any airbags have been deployed, make sure all components related to the deployment have been inspected or replaced.
NOTE: Correct any active ORC power supply, Bus related DTCs before performing this procedure.
NOTE: Make sure that the passenger seat is empty and in the full rearward position before performing this procedure.
NOTE: Make sure the vehicle is setting level and the interior is at room temperature.
NOTE: Make sure the Passenger Seat Belt is unbuckled and completely retracted.

- WARNING: Turn the ignition off, disconnect the 12-volt battery and wait two minutes before proceeding. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.
- WARNING: If the Occupant Classification Module (OCM) is dropped at any time, it must be replaced. Failure to take the proper precautions could result in accidental airbag deployment and serious or fatal injury.
- CAUTION: Disconnecting or connecting the OCM connectors with the battery connected permanently damages the OCM.
- Replace the OCM.
- Perform the OCM REZERO. Testing and Inspection.
