Passenger Window Inoperative






PASSENGER WINDOW INOPERATIVE





For a complete wiring diagram, refer to the Wiring Information Electrical Diagrams






1. DTC PRESENT
1. Turn the ignition on.
2. With the scan tool, erase the DTCs.
3. Cycle the ignition switch from Off to Run.
4. With the scan tool, read the DTCs.

Are there any POWER WINDOW related trouble codes present?

Yes

- Perform the appropriate diagnostic procedure. Body Control System.

No

- Go To 2

2. PASSENGER WINDOW UP RELAY COIL OPEN

NOTE: The Passenger Window Up Relay is located under the dash just above the steering column.

1. Listen or feel the Passenger Window Up Relay.
2. With the scan tool, actuate the PASS WINDOW UP.

Do you hear or can you feel the relay clicking?

Yes

- Go To 3

No

- Go To 14

3. WINDOW MOTOR




1. Gain access to and disconnect the Passenger Power Window Motor connector
2. Turn the ignition on.
3. Using a 12-volt test light connect one end to the (Q122) Passenger Window Down Relay Output and the other end to the (Q112) Passenger Window Up Relay Output in the harness connector.
4. With the scan tool, actuate the PASS WINDOW DN and then the PASS WINDOW UP.

Did the test light illuminate brightly when the window motor was actuated in both directions?

Yes

- Replace the Power Window Motor.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.

No

- Go To 4

4. (Q112) PASSENGER WINDOW UP RELAY OUTPUT CIRCUIT OPEN




1. Using a 12-volt test light connected to ground, check the (Q112) Passenger Window Up Relay Output circuit in the motor connector.
2. With the scan tool, actuate the PASS WINDOW UP.

Does the test light illuminate brightly when the PASS WINDOW UP circuit is actuated?

Yes

- Go To 5

No

- Go To 12

5. (Z971) ) PASSENGER WINDOW UP RELAY GROUND CIRCUIT OPEN




1. Using a 12-volt test light connected to 12-volts, check the (Z971) Relay Ground by probing the (Q112) Passenger Window Up Relay Output circuit in the motor connector.

Does the test light illuminate brightly?

Yes

- Go To 6

No

- Go To 11

6. (Q122) PASSENGER WINDOW DOWN RELAY OUTPUT CIRCUIT OPEN




1. Using a 12-volt test light connected to ground, check the (Q122) Passenger Window Down Relay Output circuit in the motor connector.
2. With the scan tool, actuate the PASS WINDOW DN.

Does the test light illuminate brightly when the PASS WINDOW DN circuit is actuated?

Yes

- Go To 7

No

- Go To 9

7. (Z971) PASSENGER WINDOW DOWN RELAY GROUND CIRCUIT OPEN




1. Using a 12-volt test light connected to 12-volts, check the (Z971) Relay Ground circuit by probing the (Q122) Passenger Window Down Relay Output circuit in the motor connector.

Does the test light illuminate brightly?

Yes

- Test Complete.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.

No

- Go To 8

8. (Z971) PASSENGER WINDOW DOWN RELAY GROUND CIRCUIT OPEN





NOTE: The Passenger Window Down Relay is located left of the steering column and taped to the harness.

1. Remove the Passenger Window Down Relay.
2. Using a 12-volt test light connected to 12-volts, check the (Z971) Relay Ground circuit in the relay connector

Does the test light illuminate brightly?

Yes

- Replace the Relay.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.

No

- Repair the Passenger Window Down Relay Ground for an open.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.

9. (Q122) PASSENGER WINDOW DOWN RELAY OUTPUT WIRE OPEN





NOTE: The Passenger Window Down Relay is located left of the steering column and taped to the harness.

1. Turn the ignition off.
2. Remove the Passenger Window Down Relay.
3. Measure the resistance of the (Q122) Passenger Window Down Relay Output circuit between the Relay connector and the Window Motor connector.

Is the resistance below 5.0 ohms?

Yes

- Go To 10

No

- Repair the (Q122) Passenger Window Down Relay Output wire for an open.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.

10. (A128) FUSED B+ OPEN




1. Turn the ignition on.
2. Measure the voltage between ground and both (A128) Fused B+ circuits in the Passenger Window Down Relay connector.

Is the voltage above 10.0 volts on both of them?

Yes

- Replace the Relay.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.

No

- Repair the Fused B+ circuit(s) for an open.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.

11. (Z971) PASSENGER WINDOW UP RELAY GROUND CIRCUIT OPEN





NOTE: The Passenger Window Up Relay is located under the dash just above the steering column.

1. Remove the Passenger Window Up Relay.
2. Using a 12-volt test light connected to 12-volts, check the (Z971) Passenger Window Up Relay Ground circuit in the up relay connector.

Does the test light illuminate brightly?

Yes

- Replace the Passenger Window Up Relay.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.

No

- Repair the (Z971) Passenger Window Relay Ground for an open.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.

12. (Q112) PASSENGER WINDOW UP RELAY OUTPUT WIRE OPEN





NOTE: The Passenger Window Up Relay is located under the dash just above the steering column.

1. Turn the ignition off.
2. Remove the Passenger Window Up Relay.
3. Measure the resistance of the (Q112) Passenger Window Up Relay Output circuit between the Relay connector and the Window Motor connector.

Is the resistance below 5.0 ohms?

Yes

- Go To 13

No

- Repair the (Q112) Passenger Window Up Relay Output wire for an open.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.

13. (A128) FUSED B+ OPEN




1. Turn the ignition on.
2. Measure the voltage between ground and both of the (A128) Fused B+ circuits in the Passenger Window Up Relay connector.

Is the voltage above 10.0 volts on both (A128) Fused B(+) circuits?

Yes

- Replace the Relay.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.

No

- Repair the (A128) Fused B+ circuit(s) for an open.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.

14. (Q12) PASSENGER WINDOW UP RELAY CONTROL CIRCUIT OPEN




1. Remove the Passenger Window Up Relay.
2. Using a 12-volt test light connected to ground, check the (Q12) Passenger Window Up Relay Control circuit.
3. With the scan tool, actuate the PASS WINDOW UP.

Does the test light illuminate brightly when the PASS WINDOW UP circuit is actuated?

Yes

- Go To 15

No

- Go To 16

15. (Z971) PASSENGER WINDOW UP RELAY COIL GROUND CIRCUIT OPEN




1. Using a 12-volt test light connected to 12-volts, check both of the (Z971) Passenger Window Up Relay Ground circuits in the relay connector.

Does the test light illuminate brightly when connected to both the Ground circuits?

Yes

- Replace the Passenger Window Up Relay.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.

No

- Repair the Passenger Window Relay Coil Ground for an open.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.

16. (Q12) PASSENGER WINDOW UP RELAY CONTROL WIRE OPEN




1. Turn the ignition off.
2. Disconnect the Body Control Module C4 connector.
3. Measure the resistance of the (Q12) Passenger Window Up Relay Control circuit between the BCM C4 connector and the Relay connector.

Is the resistance below 5.0 ohms?

Yes

- Replace the Body Control Module.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.

No

- Repair the (Q12) Passenger Window Up Relay Control circuit for an open.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.
