Fuel Pump Module - Installation

INSTALLATION





1. Install gasket on fuel tank.
2. Seat Fuel Pump Module in tank by pushing down on it, align the fuel pump module with mark on tank. Make sure that the level sensor float arm is forward in the tank.

CAUTION: Over tightening the pump lock ring may result in a leak.

3. Hand tighten the lock nut, then torque to 55 Nm (40 ft. lbs.) using Special tool #6856.





4. Connect fuel line to the fuel pump module. Refer to Quick-Connect Fittings in the Fuel Delivery. Service and Repair
5. Connect fuel pump module electrical connector to fuel pump module and lock.
6. Fill fuel tank.
7. Connect negative battery cable.
8. Use the Scan Tool ASD Fuel System Test to pressurize the fuel system. Check for leaks.





9. Disconnect negative battery cable.
10. Install the foam block to the top of the fuel pump module.
11. Place fuel pump module cover in place, apply sealer to the cover and install.





12. Install the 4 rivets for the fuel pump module cover.





13. Pull top rearward.
14. Connect the heated back glass electrical connector to both sides of the glass.
15. Roll deck lid carpet back in place.





16. Install the convertible top fasteners (15 nuts).
17. Clean trunk area.
18. Connect negative battery cable. Tighten to 10 Nm (90 in. lbs.).
19. Install the battery cover.
