Disassembly

DISASSEMBLY





1. Remove the HVAC housing assembly from the vehicle and place it on the workbench HVAC Housing - Removal.
2. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the blower motor (10), blower motor resistor (11) and each actuator (1, 2, 5 and 14).
3. Remove the HVAC wiring harness (8) from the HVAC housing assembly.
4. If necessary, remove the blower motor from the HVAC housing assembly Removal.
5. If necessary, remove the blower motor resistor from the HVAC housing assembly Removal.
6. Remove the foam seals (6 and 15) from the heater core (12) and A/C evaporator (7). If either seal is deformed or damaged, it must be replaced.
7. Remove the screws that secure the heater core and evaporator tube retaining brackets to the HVAC housing.
8. Remove the heater core out the top of the HVAC housing.
9. Remove the screws that secure the upper and lower HVAC housing halves (3 and 9) together.
10. Carefully separate the upper half of the HVAC housing from the lower half of the housing.
11. Carefully lift the A/C evaporator out of the lower half of the HVAC housing.
12. If required, remove the insulator from around the A/C evaporator. If the insulator is deformed or damaged, it must be replaced.
13. Remove the air-doors (4, 13, 16, and 17) from the lower half of the HVAC housing.
