ASSEMBLY
CAUTION: Be certain to adjust the refrigerant oil level when servicing the A/C refrigerant system Refrigerant Oil Level . Failure to properly adjust the refrigerant oil level will prevent the A/C system from operating as designed and can cause serious A/C compressor damage.
NOTE: When replacing multiple A/C system components, refer to the Refrigerant Oil Capacities chart to determine how much oil should be added to the refrigerant systemRefrigerant Oil Level .
NOTE: If the A/C evaporator is being replaced, add 60 milliliters (2 fluid ounces) of refrigerant oil to the refrigerant system. Use only refrigerant oil of the type recommended for the A/C compressor in the vehicle.
1. Position the air-doors (4. 13, 16, and 17) into the lower half of the HVAC housing (9).
2. Install the A/C evaporator (7) into the lower half of the HVAC housing. Make sure that the evaporator drain is clean and unrestricted and that the evaporator insulator is properly installed.
3. Install the upper half of the HVAC housing (3) onto the lower half of the housing. Be sure that each of the door pivot shaft ends are properly engaged in there pivot holes.
4. Install the screws that secure the upper and lower HVAC housing halves together. Tighten the screws to 2 Nm (17 in. lbs.).
5. Position the heater core (12) into the top of the HVAC housing.
6. Install the heater core and evaporator tube retaining brackets and retaining screws. Tighten the screws to 2 Nm (17 in. lbs.).
7. Install the foam seal (6 and 15) onto the heater core and A/C evaporator tubes.
8. If removed, install the blower motor resistor (11) Installation.
9. If removed, install the blower motor (10) Installation.
10. Install the HVAC wire harness (8). Make sure the wires are routed through all the wiring retainers.
11. Connect the wire harness to the blower motor, blower motor resistor and each actuator (1, 2, 5 and 14).
12. Install the HVAC housing assembly HVAC Housing - Installation.
13. If the A/C evaporator is being replaced, add 60 milliliters (2 fluid ounces) of refrigerant oil to the refrigerant system. When replacing multiple A/C system components, refer to the Refrigerant Oil Capacities chart to determine how much oil should be added to the refrigerant system Refrigerant Oil Level. Use only refrigerant oil of the type recommended for the A/C compressor in the vehicle.
