Removal






REMOVAL

WARNING: On vehicles equipped with airbags, disable the airbag system before attempting any steering wheel, steering column, or instrument panel component diagnosis or service. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery (ground) cable, then wait two minutes for the airbag system capacitor to discharge before performing further diagnosis or service. This is the only sure way to disable the airbag system. Failure to take the proper precautions may result in accidental airbag deployment and serious or fatal injury.

WARNING: Refer to the applicable warnings and cautions for this system before performing the following operation Warning and Caution . Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.

NOTE: Disassembly of the HVAC housing is not required to remove heater core.





1. Remove the HVAC housing (1) from the vehicle and place it on a bench HVAC Housing - Removal.
2. Disconnect the wire harness connector (2) from the blend door actuator (3) located on top of the HVAC housing.
3. Remove the screws (4) that secure the blend door actuator to the HVAC housing and remove the actuator.
4. Remove the foam seal (7). If the seal is deformed or damaged, it must be replaced.
5. Remove the screw that secures the heater core tube bracket (6) to the HVAC housing.
6. Remove the heater core (5) out the top of the HVAC housing.
