Engine Oil Pump - Cleaning

CLEANING
Clean all parts thoroughly. Mating surface of the chain case cover should be smooth. Replace pump cover if scratched or grooved. Clean swinging pick-up assembly. Make sure the pick-up pivots freely.




1. Remove oil pick - up tube.





2. Remove pick-up assembly (1).





3. Remove pivot bolt (1).
4. Remove snap ring (2) and pick-up screen (3).
5. Remove swinging pick-up (4) from body (5).
6. Clean all parts in a suitable solvent.
7. Install screen (3) and snap ring (2).
8. Apply Mopar(R) lock & seal adhesive to pivot bolt.
9. Install pivot bolt and tighten to 14 Nm (124 in. lbs.).
10. Verify that pivot swings freely. If pivot does not swing freely, disassemble and reassemble.
