Driver Door Switch or Switches Inoperative






DRIVER DOOR SWITCH OR SWITCHES INOPERATIVE





For a complete wiring diagram, refer to the Wiring Information Electrical Diagrams






1. DTC PRESENT
1. With the scan tool, read the DTCs.

Does the scan tool display any Driver Door Switch related trouble codes?

Yes

- Perform the appropriate diagnostic procedure. Body Control System.

No

- Go To 2

2. SELECT SWITCH OR SWITCHES

Select the appropriate Drivers Door Switch or Switches that are inoperative.

All Switches except Cylinder Unlock

- Go To 3

Interior Handle Switch

- Go To 7

Exterior Handle Switch

- Go To 11

Cylinder Unlock Switch

- A defective Driver Cylinder Unlock Switch will set a trouble code. With the scan tool, Diagnose and repair the DTC(s).

Door Lock Switch

- Go To 9

3. (P901) DRIVER DOOR SWITCH RETURN CIRCUIT OPEN





NOTE: The graphic shows the driver door lock switch. The interior and exterior switch connectors are similar.

1. Disconnect one of the Driver Door Switch connectors.
2. Using a 12-volt test light connected to 12-volts, check the (P901) Driver Door Switch Return circuit.

NOTE: The test light must illuminate brightly. Compare the brightness to that of a direct connection to the battery.

Does the test light illuminate brightly?

Yes

- Go To 4

No

- Go To 6

4. (P97) DRIVER DOOR SWITCH MUX CIRCUIT OPEN




1. Measure the voltage between the (P97) Driver Door Switch Mux circuit and ground.

Is the voltage above 4.5 volts?

Yes

- Replace the Body Control Module.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.

No

- Go To 5

5. (P97) DRIVER DOOR SWITCH MUX WIRE OPEN




1. Turn the ignition off.
2. Disconnect the Body Control Module C3 connector.
3. Measure the resistance of the (P97) Driver Door Switch Mux circuit between the BCM C3 connector and the Switch connector.

Is the resistance below 2.0 ohms?

Yes

- Replace the Body Control Module.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.

No

- Repair the (P97) Driver Door Switch Mux circuit for an open.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.

6. (P901) DRIVER DOOR SWITCH RETURN WIRE OPEN




1. Turn the ignition off.
2. Disconnect the Body Control Module C4 connector.
3. Measure the resistance of the (P901) Driver Door Switch Return circuit between the BCM C4 connector and the Switch connector.

Is the resistance below 5.0 ohms?

Yes

- Replace the Body Control Module.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.

No

- Repair the (P901) Driver Door Switch Return circuit for an open.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.

7. (P901) DRIVER DOOR SWITCH RETURN WIRE OPEN




1. Disconnect the Driver Interior Door Handle Switch connector.
2. Using a 12-volt test light connected to 12-volts, check the (P901) Driver Door Switch Return circuit.

Does the test light illuminate brightly?

Yes

- Go To 8

No

- Repair the (P901) Driver Door Switch Return circuit for an open.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.

8. (P97) DRIVER HANDLE SWITCH MUX WIRE OPEN




1. Measure the voltage between the (P97) Driver Door Switch Mux circuit and the (P901) Driver Door Switch Return circuit in the Driver Interior Door Handle Switch connector.

Is the voltage above 4.5 volts?

Yes

- Replace the Driver Interior Door Handle Switch.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.

No

- Repair the (P901) Driver Door Switch Mux circuit for an open.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.

9. (P901) DRIVER DOOR LOCK SWITCH RETURN WIRE OPEN




1. Disconnect the Driver Door Lock Switch connector.
2. Using a 12-volt test light connected to 12-volts, check the (P901) Driver Door Switch Return circuit.

Does the test light illuminate brightly?

Yes

- Go To 10

No

- Repair the (P901) Driver Door Switch Return circuit for an open.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.

10. (P97) DRIVER DOOR LOCK SWITCH MUX WIRE OPEN




1. Measure the voltage between the (P97) Driver Door Switch Mux circuit and ground.

Is the voltage above 4.5 volts?

Yes

- Replace the Driver Door Lock Switch.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.

No

- Repair the (P97) Driver Door Switch Mux circuit for an open.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.

11. (P901) DRIVER DOOR SWITCH RETURN WIRE OPEN




1. Disconnect the Driver Exterior Door Handle Switch connector.
2. Using a 12-volt test light connected to 12-volts, check the (P901) Driver Door Switch Return circuit.

Does the test light illuminate brightly?

Yes

- Go To 12

No

- Repair the (P901) Driver Door Switch Return circuit for an open.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.

12. DRIVER EXTERIOR DOOR HANDLE SWITCH




1. Measure the voltage between the (P125) Driver Exterior Door Handle Switch Sense circuit and the (P901) Driver Door Switch Return circuit in the Driver Exterior Door Handle Switch connector.

Is the voltage above 4.5 volts?

Yes

- Replace the Driver Exterior Door Handle Switch.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.

No

- Go To 13

13. (P125) DRIVER EXTERIOR DOOR HANDLE SWITCH SENSE CIRCUIT OPEN




1. Turn the ignition off.
2. Disconnect the Body Control Module C2 connector.
3. Measure the resistance of the (P125) Driver Exterior Door Handle Switch Sense circuit between the switch connector and the BCM C2 connector.

Is the resistance below 2.0 ohms?

Yes

- Replace the Body Control Module.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.

No

- Repair the (P125) Driver Exterior Door Handle Switch Sense circuit for an open.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.
