Vehicle Body Style Mismatch

VEHICLE BODY STYLE MISMATCH

Theory of Operation

When powered, the Occupant Restraint Controller (ORC) monitors the BUS for a broadcast message containing the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) by the Powertrain Control Module (PCM).

- When Monitored:
When the ignition is on.

- Set Condition:
During power-up, the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) broadcasts the vehicle Body Style message on the Bus. The Occupant Restraint Controller (ORC) monitors the Bus for this message and will set this DTC if it does not receive this message.

The Occupant Restraint Controller (ORC) is programmed for a specific body style. If the body style information is missing or does not match the stored body style the DTC will set active. Installing a module intended for a different body style (incorrect part number) will set this DTC.
