Left High Beam Output Open
LEFT HIGH BEAM OUTPUT OPEN
For a complete wiring diagram, refer to the Wiring Information Electrical Diagrams
- When Monitored:
Output is ON to OFF transition
- Set Condition:
When Output is ON to OFF transition and voltage is detected low at output for greater then 50 micros seconds.
1. INTERMITTENT CONDITION
1. Turn the ignition on.
2. With the Scan Tool, clear all BCM DTC's.
3. Turn the headlamps on.
4. Switch the headlamps between high beam and low beam several times, pausing for 5 seconds in each position.
5. With the Scan Tool, read DTC's.
Does the Scan Tool read: Left High Beam Output Open?
Yes
- Go To 2
No
- The condition that caused the symptom is currently not present. Inspect the related wiring for a possible intermittent condition. Look for any chafed, pierced, pinched, or partially broken wires.
- Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test
2. (Z1) GROUND CIRCUIT OPEN
1. Turn the ignition off.
2. Disconnect the Left Headlamp harness connector.
3. Using a 12-volt test light connected to 12-volts, check the (Z1) Ground circuit.
NOTE: The test light must illuminate brightly. Compare the brightness to that of a direct connection to the battery.
Does the test light illuminate brightly?
Yes
- Go To 3
No
- Repair the (Z1) Ground circuit for an open.
- Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test
3. (L33) LEFT HIGH BEAM OUTPUT CIRCUIT OPEN
1. Turn the ignition off.
2. Disconnect the Left Headlamp.
3. Disconnect the Body Control Module C4 harness connector
4. Measure the resistance of the Left High Beam Output circuit.
Is the resistance below 10.0 ohms?
Yes
- Go To 4
No
- Repair the (L33) Left High Beam Output circuit for an open.
- Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test
4. LEFT HEADLAMP
1. Turn the ignition off.
2. Disconnect the Left Headlamp harness connector.
3. Using a 12-volt test light connected to ground, check the Left High Beam Output circuit in the Left Headlamp harness connector.
4. Turn the high beam headlamps on.
NOTE: The test light must illuminate brightly. Compare the brightness to that of a direct connection to the battery.
Does the test light illuminate brightly?
Yes
- Replace the Left Headlamp Bulb.
- Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test
No
- Replace the Body Control Module.
- Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test
