60 Passenger Window Down Relay Coil Short To Battery

60-PASSENGER WINDOW DOWN RELAY COIL SHORT TO BATTERY

- When Monitored:
Whenever the ignition is in the Run or Accessory position and the window switch is activated down.

- Set Condition:
When the BCM grounds the Passenger Window Down Relay Control circuit and detects a current greater than approximately 250 ma. for over 125 milliseconds, this code will set.





1. DTC PRESENT
1. Turn the ignition on.
2. With the scan tool, erase the DTCs.
3. Cycle the ignition switch from Off to Run.
4. Try to operate the Passenger Window Motor several times.
5. With the scan tool, read the DTCs.

Does the scan tool display 60-PASSENGER WINDOW DOWN SHORTED TO BATTERY?

Yes

- Go To 2

No

- The condition that caused the code to set is not present at this time. Using the wiring diagram/schematic as a guide, inspect the wiring and connectors.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.

2. DOWN RELAY SHORTED





NOTE: The Passenger Window Down Relay is located left of the steering column and taped to the harness.

1. Remove the Passenger Window Down Relay.
2. Install a substitute Relay in place of the Passenger Window Down Relay.
3. Turn the ignition on.
4. With the scan tool, erase the DTCs.
5. Cycle the ignition switch from Off to Run.
6. Press the Passenger Window Switch DOWN several times.
7. With the scan tool, read the DTCs.

Does the scan tool display 60-PASSENGER WINDOW DOWN SHORTED TO BATTERY?

Yes

- Go To 3

No

- Replace the Window Down Relay.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.

3. (Q22) PASSENGER WINDOW DOWN RELAY CONTROL WIRE SHORT TO BATTERY




1. Turn the ignition off.
2. Remove the Passenger Window Down Relay.
3. Disconnect the BCM C3 harness connector.
4. Turn the ignition on.
5. Measure the Voltage between ground and the (Q22) Passenger Window Down Relay Control circuit.

Is there any voltage present?

Yes

- Repair the (Q22) Passenger Window Down Relay Control circuit for a short to Battery.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.

No

- Replace the Body Control Module.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.
