No Communication With CD/DVD Radio
NO COMMUNICATION WITH CD/DVD-RADIO
For a complete wiring diagram, refer to the Wiring Information Electrical Diagrams
1. FUSED B+ CIRCUIT OPEN
1. Turn the ignition off.
2. Disconnect the CD/DVD Changer harness connector.
3. Turn the Radio and the CD/DVD Changer on.
4. Using a 12-volt test light connected to ground, probe the Fused B+ circuit.
Is the test light illuminated?
Yes
- Go To 2
No
- Repair the Fused B+ circuit for an open.
- Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test
2. CD/DVD CHANGER WIRING HARNESS
1. Turn the ignition off.
2. Disconnect the Radio C2 harness connector.
3. Disconnect the CD/DVD Changer harness connector.
4. Visually inspect the connectors for damage.
5. Check for open circuits in the wiring harness between the Radio and the CD/DVD Changer.
6. Measure the resistance of the each circuit between the Radio C2 connector and the CD/DVD Changer connector.
7. Check for shorted circuits in the wiring harness between the Radio and the CD/DVD Changer.
8. Measure the resistance between each circuit at the Radio C2 connector.
Are any of the circuits shorted together or open?
Yes
- Replace/repair the CD/DVD Changer wiring harness.
- Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test
No
- Go To 3
3. PCI BUS CIRCUIT OPEN TEST
1. Use Scope input cable CH7058, Cable to Probe adapter CH7062, and the red and black test probes.
2. Connect the scope input cable to the channel one connector on the scan tool. Attach the red and black leads and the cable to probe adapter to the scope input cable.
3. With the scan tool select Pep Module Tools.
4. Select lab scope.
5. Select Live Data.
6. Select 12 volt square wave.
7. Press F2 for Scope.
8. Press F2 and use the down arrow to set voltage range to 20 volts. Press F2 again when complete.
9. Disconnect the CD/DVD Changer harness connector.
10. Connect the Black lead to the chassis ground. Connect the Red lead to the PCI Bus circuit in the CD/DVD Changer connector.
11. Reconnect the Radio C2 harness connector.
12. Turn the ignition on.
13. Turn the Radio and CD/DVD Changer on.
14. Observe the voltage.
Does the voltage pulse from 0 to approximately 7.5 volts?
Yes
- Go To 4
No
- Replace the Radio.
- Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test
4. IGNITION RUN/ACC SIGNAL CIRCUIT OPEN
1. Turn the ignition off.
2. Disconnect the CD/DVD Changer harness connector.
3. Turn the ignition on.
4. Turn the Radio and the CD/DVD Changer on.
5. Using a 12-volt test light connected to ground, probe the Ignition RUN/ACC Signal circuit.
Is the test light illuminated?
Yes
- Go To 5
No
- Replace the Radio.
- Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test
5. GROUND CIRCUIT OPEN
1. Turn the ignition off.
2. Disconnect the CD/DVD Changer harness connector.
3. Using a 12-volt test light connected to 12-volts, probe the ground circuit.
Is the test light illuminated?
Yes
- Replace the CD/DVD Changer.
- Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test
No
- Repair the ground circuit for an open.
- Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test
