B2713-FLEX MAT SENSOR PERFORMANCE
Theory of Operation
When powered, the Occupant Classification Module (OCM) monitors the Flex Mat capacitor values for proper operating range as specified by the module calibration. If the capacitor values are above or below the normal range a diagnostic code will be set active within 5 seconds ± 110 ms.

When powered, the Occupant Classification Module (OCM) monitors the Flex Mat capacitor values for proper operating range as specified by the module calibration.
- Set Condition:
The DTC will set if the capacitor values are above or below the normal range.
Always perform the Pre-Diagnostic Troubleshooting procedure before proceeding. Restraints System Pre-Diagnostic Procedure.
1. VERIFY COMPLAINT
NOTE: Ensure that the battery is fully charged.
1. Turn the ignition on.
2. With the scan tool, read the OCM DTC.
Does the Scan Tool report the active: B2713-FLEX MAT SENSOR PERFORMANCE?
Yes
- Go To 2
No
- Go To 2
2. VERIFY SEAT SPRINGS
1. Inspect the passenger seat for a broken spring.
Are there any broken springs?
Yes
- Replace the broken Passenger Seat springs.
- Perform the OCM REZERO. Testing and Inspection.
No
- CAUTION: Disconnecting or connecting the OCM connectors with the battery connected permanently damages the OCM.
- WARNING: Turn the ignition off, disconnect the 12-volt battery and wait two minutes before proceeding. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.
- Replace the Flex Matt Service Kit.
- Perform the OCM REZERO. Testing and Inspection.
- If DTC B2713-FLEX MAT SENSOR PERFORMANCE returns active after replacing the Flex Matt, replace the OCM.
- Perform the OCM REZERO. Testing and Inspection.
