B1B93-PASSENGER SEAT TRACK POSITION SENSOR CIRCUIT LOW
For a complete wiring diagram refer to the Wiring Information Electrical Diagrams.
Theory of Operation
When powered, the CAN bus ignition status is IGN_RUN, and the Occupant Classification Module (OCM) is configured for a Passenger Seat Track Position Sensor (STPS), the Occupant Classification Module (OCM) diagnoses the internal and external circuits to verify system performance. The fault occurs when the sensor circuit A/D feedback register is below the low voltage limit (as specified by calibration) for 500 ms ± 110 ms.
- When Monitored:
When powered, the CAN Bus ignition status is IGN_RUN, the module is configured for a Passenger Seat Track Position Sensor, the module checks the sensor circuit A/D feedback register for voltage below the low voltage limit for 500 ms ± 110 ms.
- Set Condition:
The fault occurs when the sensor circuit A/D feedback register is below the below the low voltage limit for 500 ms ± 110 ms
Always perform the Pre-Diagnostic Troubleshooting procedure before proceeding. Restraints System Pre-Diagnostic Procedure.

- Reroute the Passenger Seat wiring as necessary.
- Perform the RESTRAINTS SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST. Restraints System Verification Test.
5. VERIFY B1B93-PASSENGER SEAT TRACK POSITION SENSOR CIRCUIT LOW IS ACTIVE
WARNING: Turn the ignition off, disconnect the 12-volt battery and wait two minutes before proceeding. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.
1. Disconnect the Passenger Seat Track Position Sensor connector.
2. Connect a jumper wire between cavity 1 and Cavity 2 of the Passenger Seat Track Position Sensor connector
WARNING: Turn the ignition on, then reconnect the 12-volt battery. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.
CAUTION: Disconnecting or connecting the OCM connectors with the battery connected permanently damages the OCM.
3. With the scan tool, read OCM DTC.
Does the scan tool display active: B1B95-PASSENGER SEAT TRACK POSITION SENSOR CIRCUIT OPEN DTC?
Yes
- Go To 9
No
- Go To 6
6. VERIFY PASSENGER SEAT POSITION SENSOR SHORT TO GROUND
WARNING: Turn the ignition off, disconnect the 12-volt battery and wait two minutes before proceeding. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.
1. Measure the (R262) Passenger Seat Position Sensor Data circuit resistance between the Passenger Seat Track Position Sensor connector cavity 1 and ground.
2. Measure the (R264) Passenger Seat Position Sensor Voltage circuit resistance between the Passenger Seat Track Position Sensor connector cavity 2 and ground.
Is the resistance below 10k ohms on either circuit?
Yes
- Go To 7
No
- Go To 8
7. VERIFY PASSENGER SEAT POSITION SENSOR CIRCUITS SHORT TO GROUND
CAUTION: Disconnecting or connecting the OCM connectors with the battery connected permanently damages the OCM.
1. Disconnect the OCM C1 connector.
2. Measure the (R262) Passenger Seat Position Sensor Data circuit resistance between the Passenger Seat Track Position Sensor connector cavity 1 and ground.
3. Measure the (R264) Passenger Seat Position Sensor Voltage circuit resistance between the Passenger Seat Track Position Sensor connector cavity 2 and ground.
Is the resistance below 10k ohms on either circuit?
Yes
- NOTE: Do not attempt to repair the seat wiring.
- Replace the Passenger Seat wiring.
- Perform the RESTRAINTS SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST. Restraints System Verification Test.
