Crankshaft - Installation
INSTALLATION
1. Select the proper main bearingsService and Repair.
2. Install main bearings in block and caps, and lubricate bearings.
3. Position the crankshaft into the cylinder block.
4. Install the thrust bearings (1).
5. Install all main bearing caps (1) with the arrows facing forward.
6. Clean and oil all main cap bolts and install.
7. Tighten main bearing cap bolts to 10 Nm ( 15ft. lbs.) in the sequence shown.
8. Tighten main bearing cap bolts to 27 Nm ( 20 ft. lbs.) in the sequence shown.
9. Rotate main bearing cap bolts an additional 90° in the sequence shown.
10. Install the crossbolts with new seal washers.
11. Tighten main bearing cap cross bolts to 10 Nm ( 15 ft. lbs.) in the sequence shown.
12. Tighten main bearing cap cross bolts to 28 Nm ( 21 ft. lbs.) in the sequence shown.
13. Tighten main bearing cap cross bolts to 28 Nm ( 21 ft. lbs.) in the sequence shown again.
14. Measure crankshaft end play Service and Repair.
15. Position the connecting rods onto the crankshaft and install the rod bearing caps Piston and Connecting Rod - Installation.
16. Install timing chain (1) and sprockets (2,3) Timing Chain & Sprockets - Installation.
17. Install oil pump Removal and Replacement
18. Install the timing chain cover (1) Engine Timing Cover(s) - Installation.
19. Install the rear main seal and retainer Crankshaft Rear Oil Seal Retainer - Installation.
20. Install the windage tray/oil pan gasket.
21. Install the oil pick up tube.
22. Install the oil pan Engine Oil Pan - Installation.
23. Install the vibration damper Vibration Damper - Installation.
24. Install the engine Engine - Installation.
