Manual Transmission/Transaxle - Removal







REMOVAL





1. Disconnect battery power source.
2. With vehicle in neutral, position vehicle on hoist.
3. Remove belly pan and front extension.
4. Remove drive shaft straps (1) from axle yoke (2) and remove shaft from transmission.
5. Remove hydraulic clutch quick connector at the transmission bell housing, with Release Tool 6638 or 6638A.
6. Install support stand underneath engine oil pan.




7. Raise the engine/transmission slightly with support stand. Remove the transmission crossmember (2) and mount bolts/nuts.




8. Slightly lower engine/transmission with support stand. Do not allow the engine/transmission assembly to hang freely.
9. Remove isolator/shifter handle from the shifter tower with crow-foot wrench.
10. Remove reverse lamp switch, reverse lockout solenoid and skip shift solenoid harness connectors from transmission.
11. Remove upper transmission to bell housing bolts (1).
12. Raise engine/transmission.
13. Remove bottom transmission bolts (2 3).
14. Raise engine up slightly to aid in transmission removal/installation.
15. Slide transmission back so that the input shaft clears pressure plate. Then lower transmission.
