Manual Transmission/Transaxle - Installation







INSTALLATION





1. Slide transmission back into the clutch and seat against the bell housing.
2. Install transmission bolts and tighten bolts to:
- Top four bolts (1) to engine - 41 Nm (30 ft. lbs.)
- Bottom two bolts (2) to engine - 68 Nm (50 ft. lbs.)
- Bottom four bolts (3) to oil pan - 30 Nm (22 ft. lbs.)

3. Install transmission harness.
4. Install shift handle to the shift tower.




5. Install transmission crossmember (2). Tighten crossmember bolts and transmission mount (1) nut to 61 Nm (45 ft. lbs.).
6. Install hydraulic clutch quick connector to the transmission bell housing.




7. Install propeller shaft with new drive shaft joint straps (1).

CAUTION: Replace drive shaft joint straps (1) whenever they are removed. The straps slightly deform when torqued in place. Reuse of the straps may result in reduced clamp load on the universal joint cap. Drive shaft strap bolts must be replaced or cleaned and Mopar Lock & Seal Adhesive or equivalent applied.





8. Remove fill plug (1) and fill transmission to specifications.
9. Install belly pan.
10. Connect battery power source.
