Removal

REMOVAL





1. Remove rear axle from the vehicle.
2. Remove rear cover and drain fluid.
3. Remove output shafts.
4. Install spreader Adapters 10033 (1) on differential housing (2).




5. Install Spreader W-129-B (1) on Adapters 10033 (2).
6. Loosen bearing caps.




7. Mount dial indicator (1) on differential housing and position indicator plunger (2) against the opposite side of the housing.
8. Hand tighten spreader, then zero dial indicator.
9. Tighten spreader with wrench and spread carrier 25 mm (0.010 in.).

CAUTION: Never spread differential carrier more than 25 mm (0.010 in.). Failure to follow these instructions may result in distorting or cracking the housing.

10. Remove dial indicator.
11. Remove bearing caps and remove differential from housing.
12. Remove spreader from housing.
