INSTALLATION





1. Install new output shaft snap rings in the differential.

CAUTION: Never reuse output shaft snap rings. Failure to follow these instructions may result in output shaft snap ring retention failure.

2. Install differential Spreader W-129-B and Adapters 10033.
3. Mount dial indicator on differential housing and position indicator plunger against the opposite side of the housing.
4. Hand tighten spreader, then zero dial indicator.
5. Tighten spreader with wrench and spread carrier 25 mm (0.010 in.).

CAUTION: Never spread differential carrier more than 25 mm (0.010 in.). Failure to follow these instructions may result in distorting or cracking the housing.

6. Remove dial indicator, then install differential case (1) with bearing cups (2) and preload shims into the differential housing.




7. Remove spreader (1) and adapters (2) from housing.
8. Install bearing caps in original location and tighten bolts to 88 Nm (65 ft. lbs.).
9. Install output shafts into carrier and output shaft snap rings.
10. Apply a bead of Mopar Axle RTV or equivalent to the differential cover.

CAUTION: If cover is not installed within 5 minutes, cover must be cleaned and new sealant applied. Failure to follow these instructions may result in a leak.

11. Install cover and tighten bolts in a criss-cross pattern to 47 Nm (35 ft. lbs.).
12. Install axle in vehicle.
13. Fill differential with lubricant to specifications.
