INSTALLATION

CAUTION: Be certain to adjust the refrigerant oil level when servicing the A/C refrigerant system Refrigerant Oil Level. Failure to properly adjust the refrigerant oil level will prevent the A/C system from operating as designed and can cause serious A/C compressor damage.

CAUTION: The A/C accumulator must be replaced if an internal failure of the A/C compressor has occurred. Failure to replace the A/C accumulator can cause serious A/C compressor damage.

NOTE: When replacing multiple A/C system components, refer to the Refrigerant Oil Capacities chart to determine how much oil should be added to the refrigerant systemRefrigerant Oil Level.

NOTE: If only the A/C accumulator is being replaced, add 30 milliliters (1 fluid ounce) of refrigerant oil to the refrigerant system. Use only the refrigerant oil of the type recommended for the A/C compressor in the vehicle.

NOTE: Replacement of the refrigerant line O-ring seals is required anytime a refrigerant line is disconnected. Failure to replace the rubber O-ring seals may result in a refrigerant system leak.

1. If removed, install the A/C low pressure switch (3) onto the A/C accumulator (2) using a new O-ring seal. Tighten the switch securely.
2. Position the A/C accumulator onto the mounting studs on the right inner front fender.
3. Install the two nuts (1) that secure the A/C accumulator to the right front inner fender. Tighten the nuts to 4.5 Nm (40 in. lbs.).
4. Unplug or remove the tape from the opened suction line fittings and accumulator ports.
5. Lubricate new rubber O-ring seals with clean refrigerant oil and install them onto the suction line fittings. Use only the specified O-ring seals as they are made of a special material for the R-134a system. Use only refrigerant oil of the type recommended for the A/C compressor in the vehicle.
6. Connect the two halves of the A/C suction line (4 and 6) to the A/C accumulator.
7. Install the bolts (5) that secure the A/C suction lines to the A/C accumulator. Tighten the bolts to 18 Nm (13 ft. lbs.).
8. Connect the wire harness connector to the A/C low pressure switch.
9. Install the right inner fender splash shield Front Wheelhouse Splash Shield - Installation.
10. Install the right front wheel Tires and Wheels - Installation.
11. Lower the vehicle.
12. Reconnect the negative battery cable.
13. Evacuate the refrigerant system Refrigerant System Evacuate.
14. If the A/C accumulator is being replaced, add 30 milliliters (1 fluid ounce) of refrigerant oil to the refrigerant system. When replacing multiple A/C system components, refer to the Refrigerant Oil Capacities chart to determine how much oil should be added to the refrigerant system Refrigerant Oil Level. Use only refrigerant oil of the type recommended for the A/C compressor in the vehicle.
15. Charge the refrigerant system Refrigerant System Charge.
