Diagnostic Test
1. DTC PRESENT
With the scan tool, read DTC's.
Does the scan tool display any RKE related trouble codes?
Yes
- Diagnose and repair the DTC(s).
No
- Go To 2
2. TRANSMITTER
Using the 9001 RF Detector tool, test the transmitter.
Does the signal strength register STRONG?
No
- Test the batteries. If the batteries are okay, replace and program the transmitter.
- Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Body Verification Test
Yes
- Go To 3
3. (M1) IOD - B(+) CIRCUIT OPEN
Gain access to the RKE module.
Turn the ignition off and disconnect the RKE module connector.
Measure the voltage between the (M1) IOD - B(+) circuit and ground.
Is the voltage above 10.0 volts?
Yes
- Go To4
No
- Repair the (M1) IOD - B(+) circuit for an open.
- Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Body Verification Test
4. (Z943) GROUND CIRCUIT OPEN
Using a 12-volt test light connected to 12-volts, check the (Z943) Ground circuit in the RKE module connector.
Does the test light illuminate brightly?
Yes
- Go To 5
No
- Repair the (Z943) Ground circuit for an open.
- Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Body Verification Test
5. (G96) RKE INTERFACE CIRCUIT OPEN
NOTE: Ensure the transmission is in park position before proceeding.
Ensure the ignition is on.
Measure the voltage between the (G96) Remote Keyless Entry Interface circuit and ground.
Is the voltage above 4.8 volts?
Yes
- Replace the Remote Keyless Entry Module and program all transmitters used with this vehicle.
- Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Body Verification Test
No
- Go To 6
6. (G96) RKE INTERFACE WIRE OPEN
Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the Body Control Module C3 connector.
Measure the resistance of the (G96) Remote Keyless Entry Interface wire between the BCM C3 connector and the RKE module connector.
Is the resistance below 2.0 ohms?
Yes
- Go To 7
No
- Repair the (G96) Remote Keyless Entry Interface wire for an open.
- Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Body Verification Test
7. (G96) RKE INTERFACE WIRE SHORT TO GROUND
Measure the resistance between ground and the (G96) Remote Keyless Entry Interface circuit.
Is the resistance below 2000.0 ohms?
Yes
- Repair the (G96) Remote Keyless Entry Interface wire for a short to ground.
- Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Body Verification Test
No
- Replace the Body Control Module.
- Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Body Verification Test
