Passenger Door Switch Or Switches Inoperative

Diagnostic Test
1. DTC PRESENT
With the scan tool, read DTC's.
Does the scan tool display any Passenger Door Switch related trouble codes?
Yes
- Diagnose and repair the DTC(s).
No
- Go To 2
2. SELECT SWITCH OR SWITCHES
Select the appropriate Passengers Door Switch or Switches that are inoperative.
All Switches.
- Go To 3
Interior or Exterior Handle Switch
- Go To 7
Door Lock Switch
- Go To 9
3. (P900) PASSENGER DOOR SWITCH RETURN CIRCUIT OPEN
NOTE: The graphic shows the passenger door lock switch. The other passenger door switches are similar.
Disconnect one of the Passenger Door Switch connectors.
Using a 12-volt test light connected to 12-volts, check the (P900) Passenger Door Switch Return circuit.
NOTE: The test light must illuminate brightly. Compare the brightness to that of a direct connection to the battery.
Does the test light illuminate brightly?
Yes
- Go To 4
No
- Go To 6
4. (P96) PASSENGER DOOR SWITCH MUX CIRCUIT OPEN
Measure the voltage between the (P96) Passenger Door Switch Mux circuit and ground.
Is the voltage above 4.5 volts?
Yes
- Replace the Body Control Module.
- Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Body Verification Test
No
- Go To 5
5. (P96) PASSENGER DOOR SWITCH MUX WIRE OPEN
Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the Body Control Module C3 connector.
Measure the resistance of the (P96) Passenger Door Switch Mux circuit between the BCM C3 connector and the Switch connector.
Is the resistance below 5.0 ohms?
Yes
- Replace the Body Control Module.
- Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Body Verification Test
No
- Repair the (P96) Passenger Door Switch Mux circuit for an open.
- Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Body Verification Test
6. (P900) PASSENGER DOOR SWITCH RETURN WIRE OPEN
Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the Body Control Module C2 connector.
Measure the resistance of the (P900) Passenger Door Switch Return circuit between the BCM C2 connector and the Switch connector.
Is the resistance below 5.0 ohms?
Yes
- Replace the Body Control Module.
- Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Body Verification Test
No
- Repair the (P900) Passenger Door Switch Return circuit for an open.
- Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Body Verification Test
7. (P900) PASSENGER DOOR SWITCH RETURN WIRE OPEN
NOTE: The graphic shows the Passenger Door Interior Handle Switch. The exterior switch is similar.
Disconnect the inoperative Passenger Handle Switch connector.
Using a 12-volt test light connected to 12-volts, check the (P900) Passenger Door Switch Return circuit.
Does the test light illuminate brightly?
Yes
- Go To 8
No
- Repair the (P900) Passenger Door Switch Return circuit for an open.
- Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Body Verification Test
8. (P96) PASSENGER DOOR SWITCH MUX WIRE OPEN
Measure the voltage between the (P96) Passenger Door Switch Mux circuit and the (P900) Passenger Door Switch Return circuit in the switch connector.
Is the voltage above 4.5 volts?
Yes
- Replace the Passenger Handle Switch.
- Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Body Verification Test
No
- Repair the (P96) Passenger Door Switch Mux circuit for an open.
- Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Body Verification Test
9. (P900) PASSENGER DOOR SWITCH RETURN WIRE OPEN
Disconnect the Power Door Lock Switch connector.
Using a 12-volt test light connected to 12-volts, check the (P900) Passenger Door Switch Return circuit.
Does the test light illuminate brightly?
Yes
- Go To 10
No
- Repair the (P900) Passenger Door Switch Return circuit for an open.
- Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Body Verification Test
10. (P96) PASSENGER DOOR SWITCH MUX WIRE OPEN
Measure the voltage between the (P96) Passenger Door Switch Mux circuit and ground.
Is the voltage above 4.5 volts?
Yes
- Replace the Passenger Door Lock Switch.
- Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Body Verification Test
No
- Repair the (P96) Passenger Door Switch Mux circuit for an open.
- Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Body Verification Test
