B1B94-PASSENGER SEAT TRACK POSITION SENSOR CIRCUIT HIGH

For a complete wiring diagram Consult Diagrams/Electrical.

Theory of Operation

When powered, the CAN bus ignition status is IGN_RUN, and the Occupant Classification Module (OCM) is configured for a Passenger Seat Track Position Sensor (STPS), the Occupant Classification Module (OCM) diagnoses the internal and external circuits to verify system performance. The fault occurs when the sensor circuit A/D feedback register is above the high voltage limit but not shorted low (as specified by calibration) for 500 ms ± 110 ms.

- When Monitored:
When powered, the CAN Bus ignition status is IGN_RUN, the module is configured for a Passenger Seat Track Position Sensor, and the module has successfully completed the shorted to ground test, the module checks the sensor circuit A/D feedback register for high voltage.

- Set Condition:
The fault occurs when the sensor circuit A/D feedback register is above the high voltage limit (as specified by calibration) for 500 ms ± 110 ms.

Always perform the Pre-Diagnostic Troubleshooting procedure before proceeding. Restraints System Pre-Diagnostic Procedure

Diagnostic Test

1. CHECK FOR ACTIVE INTERNAL FAULTS, IGNITION FAULTS, AND BATTERY FAULTS IN THE OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION MODULE (OCM)
NOTE: Ensure the battery is fully charged.

With the scan tool, read active OCM DTC.
Does the scan tool display any active DTC relating to internal faults, ignition faults, or battery faults?

Yes

- Diagnose and repair the DTC. Restraint System

No

- Go To 2

2. VERIFY B1B94-PASSENGER SEAT TRACK POSITION SENSOR CIRCUIT HIGH IS ACTIVE
Does the scan tool display active: B1B94-PASSENGER SEAT TRACK POSITION SENSOR CIRCUIT HIGH?

Yes

- Go To 3

No

- Perform *RESTRAINTS SYSTEM INTERMITTENT TEST. Restraints System Intermittent Test

3. VERIFY SEAT POSITION SENSOR CIRCUITS SHORT TO VOLTAGE
WARNING: To avoid serious or fatal injury, turn the ignition off, disconnect the battery and wait two minutes before proceeding.

Disconnect the Passenger Seat Track Position Sensor connector.

WARNING: To avoid serious or fatal injury, turn the ignition on, then reconnect the battery.

Measure the (R262) Passenger Seat Position Sensor Data circuit voltage between the Passenger Seat Position Sensor connector cavity 1 and ground.
Measure the (R264) Passenger Seat Position Sensor Voltage circuit voltage between the Passenger Seat Position Sensor connector cavity 2 and ground.
Is there voltage present on either circuit?

Yes

- Go To 4

No

- Go To 5

4. VERIFY SEAT POSITION SENSOR CIRCUITS SHORT TO VOLTAGE

WARNING: To avoid serious or fatal injury, turn the ignition off, disconnect the battery and wait two minutes before proceeding.

Disconnect the OCM C1 connector.

Yes

NOTE: Do not attempt to repair the seat wiring.

- Replace the Passenger Seat wiring.
- Perform *RESTRAINTS SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST. Verification Tests

No

WARNING: If the Occupant Classification Module (OCM) is dropped at any time, it must be replaced. Failure to take the proper precautions can result in accidental airbag deployment and serious or fatal injury.

CAUTION: Disconnecting or connecting the OCM connectors with the battery connected will permanently damage the OCM.

- Replace the OCM.
- Perform the *OCM REZERO. Restraint System

5. CHECK OPERATION OF THE DRIVER SEAT TRACK POSITION SENSOR
Replace the Driver Seat Track Position Sensor.
Reconnect all disconnected components except the battery.

WARNING: To avoid serious or fatal injury, turn the ignition on, then reconnect the battery.

Connect the scan tool to the Data Link Connector - use the most current software available.
Use the scan tool and erase all codes in the OCM.
Turn the Ignition Off, and wait 15 seconds before turning the Ignition On.
Wait one minute, and read active codes.
Did the active B1B8D-DRIVER SEAT TRACK POSITION SENSOR CIRCUIT LOW DTC return?

Yes

WARNING: If the Occupant Classification Module (OCM) is dropped at any time, it must be replaced. Failure to take the proper precautions can result in accidental airbag deployment and serious or fatal injury.

WARNING: To avoid serious or fatal injury, turn the ignition off, disconnect the battery and wait two minutes before proceeding.

CAUTION: Disconnecting or connecting the OCM connectors with the battery connected will permanently damage the OCM.

- Replace the OCM.
- Perform the *OCM REZERO. Restraint System

No

- Repair is complete.
- Perform *RESTRAINTS SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST. Verification Tests.
