Cooling System - High Engine Temp. (Police Package)

SUBJECT:
High Engine Coolant Temperature, Poor A/C Performance On Vehicles Equipped With Police Package

OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves installing a high capacity cooling fan.

MODELS:

2006 (LX) Charger, Magnum

NOTE:
This bulletin applies to vehicles equipped with Police Package, Sales code AHB, built before November16, 2006, (MDH 1116XX)

SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
Police vehicles may experience high engine coolant temperatures and loss of air conditioner performance when operated in aggressive drive cycles (stop and go, pursuit) in ambient temperatures over 32° C (90° F).

DIAGNOSIS:

If customers indicate that the condition is present, perform the Repair Procedure.





PARTS REQUIRED:

REPAIR PROCEDURE:

1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.

2. Partially drain cooling system and retain the coolant.

3. Remove upper radiator hose.

4. Disconnect cooling fan electrical connector.

5. Remove radiator shroud upper mounting screws.

6. Remove radiator/fan assembly from vehicle.

7. Remove lower fan motor.

8. Install the new cooling fan, p/n 05072330AB.

9. Position radiator/fan assembly in vehicle.

10. Install mounting bolts. Tighten them to 6 N.m (50 in.lbs.).

11. Connect cooling fan electrical connector.

12. Install upper radiator hose.

13. Fill cooling system with the coolant removed earlier.

14. Operate engine until it reaches normal operating temperature. Check cooling system and automatic transmission for correct fluid levels.
