Condenser HVAC: Service and Repair
CONDENSERThe condenser is located in front of the engine radiator. It has no serviceable parts. If damaged or leaking, the condenser assembly must be replaced.
WARNING: THE REFRIGERANT MUST BE REMOVED FROM THE SYSTEM BEFORE REMOVING THE CONDENSER.
REMOVAL
1. Remove the battery negative cable.
2. Using a R-134a refrigerant recovery machine, remove the refrigerant from the A/C system.
3. Remove radiator support brackets.
Condenser Refrigerant Lines-(Typical):
4. Remove refrigerant Tines from condenser.
5. Remove condenser to radiator upper mounting screws.
6. Lift vehicle on a suitable lifting devise.
7. Remove front lower fascias.
8. Remove two screws that hold lower condenser to radiator
9. Lower vehicle.
10. Remove two coil pack retaining screws and set coil pack aside.
11. Remove air cleaner assembly from vehicle.
12. Remove the wire connections from the PCM.
13. Remove the fasteners from the PCM and remove PCM from vehicle.
14. Tilt radiator back and remove condenser.
INSTALLATION
1. Tilt the radiator back and position the condenser in the vehicle.
2. Install the PCM in the vehicle and install fasteners.
3. Install the wire connectors to the PCM.
4. Install the air cleaner assembly to the vehicle.
5. Install the coil pack and install the two retaining screws.
6. Lift the vehicle on a suitable lifting device.
7. Install the lower condenser to radiator mounting screws.
8. Install the front lower facias.
9. Lower the vehicle.
10. Install the upper radiator mounting screws.
11. Install the refrigerant lines to the condenser.
12. Tighten the condenser refrigerant lines to 5 Nm (45 in. lbs.).
13. Install the refrigerant lines to the expansion valve.
14. Evacuate the refrigerant system.
15. Recharge the A/C system.
16. Install the battery negative cable.
