Front
REMOVALNOTE: Before proceeding, Refer to Service Precautions.
1. Raise the vehicle.
2. Remove wheel and tire assembly.
3. Disconnect the vehicle wiring harness from the wheel speed sensor wiring connector at the frame rail.
4. Remove sensor wiring connector clip from frame rail.
5. Remove the sensor harness from the routing clips along brake flex hose and flex hose metal bracket.
6. Remove the bolt fastening the sensor head to the steering knuckle.
CAUTION: When removing a wheel speed sensor from the knuckle, do not use pliers on the sensor head. This may damage the sensor head. If the sensor has seized, use a hammer and a punch to tap the edge of the sensor head ear, rocking the sensor side-to-side until free.
7. Carefully remove the sensor head from the steering knuckle.
INSTALLATION
CAUTION: Failure to install speed sensors properly may result in contact with moving parts or an over extension of wires causing an open circuit. Be sure that sensor harnesses are installed, routed, and clipped properly.
1. Install the wheel speed sensor head in the steering knuckle. Install the mounting bolt. Tighten the mounting bolt to a torque of 11 Nm (100 inch lbs.).
2. Install the speed sensor harness grommet into the metal retaining bracket attached to the brake hose.
3. Route the sensor harness along the brake hose and install it in the routing clips.
4. Push the sensor connector fastener clip into the hole in the frame rail.
5. Connect the vehicle wiring harness to the sensor connector.
6. Install the tire and wheel assembly. Progressively tighten the wheel mounting nuts in the proper sequence to 122 Nm (90 ft. lbs.) torque.
7. Lower the vehicle.
8. Road test vehicle to ensure proper operation of the base brakes and ABS.
