Sport Cap

SPORT CAP

REMOVAL

1. Remove B-pillar cover piece.
2. Remove door weatherstrips.
3. Remove quarter trim panels.
4. Remove bulkhead trim panel.
5. Remove decklid.
6. Remove quarter panels.
7. Remove rear glass, if equipped.
8. Disconnect center high mounted stop lamp.

9. Using a suitable drill with a 5 mm (0.187 in.) drill bit, remove pop rivets holding sport cap to trunk pan (Fig. 1).
10. Remove nuts attaching sport cap to trunk pan between decklid hinges.
11. Remove nuts and bolts attaching sport cap to frame from above rear wheels.
12. Remove bolts attaching sport cap to frame from above wheels.
13. Remove sport cap from vehicle. Retrieve sport cap shims for installation.

INSTALLATION

1. Position required shims in the locations indicated (Fig. 1).
a. If no frame repair has been performed at a shim location, install shims previously removed from that location.
b. If the frame has been straightened at a shim location to the specifications. Refer to Body and Frame / Specifications / Dimensions. Install a 4.5 mm thick shim group at that location. Do not install the shim group previously removed from that location.

2. Position sport cap to vehicle.
3. Verify that all seals between sport cap and trunk pan are properly located and are in good condition.
4. Install bolts and nuts attaching sport cap to frame above wheels.
5. Install nuts attaching sport cap to trunk pan between decklid hinges.
6. Verify alignment of sport cap to trunk pan. Adjust as necessary.
7. Install pop rivets to attach sport cap to trunk pan.
8. Connect center high mounted stop lamp.
9. Install rear glass, if equipped.
10. Install quarter panels.
11. Install decklid.
12. Install bulkhead trim panel.
13. Install quarter trim panels.
14. Install door weatherstrips.
15. Install B-pillar cover piece.
