DOOR SURROUND PANEL

REMOVAL

1. Remove quarter panel.
2. Remove door latch striker.
3. Remove lower door interlock catch.
4. Remove rocker panel cover.
5. Remove door opening weatherstrip.
6. Remove quarter trim panel.
7. Remove door sill trim panel.
8. Remove seat.
9. Fold carpet away from sill.

10. Using a 75 mm (3 in.) cut off wheel, cut surround panel along flat surface down latch pillar and sill (Fig. 7).
11. Move outer edge from surround panel.
12. Using a heat gun, heat surround panel to at least 121 degrees C (250 degrees F) to soften adhesive.
13. Using a flat blade scraper, cut adhesive from between surround panel, trunk pan, and frame.
14. Remove surround panel from vehicle.

INSTALLATION

1. Clean adhesive residue from frame, sill panel, and trunk pan.
2. Paint metal panels to avoid corrosion if necessary.
3. Loosely install rocker panel cover.
4. Position door surround panel on vehicle. Do not apply adhesive at this time.
5. Position quarter panel on vehicle and align to roof panel and trunk pan.
6. Secure quarter panel temporarily in position using tape, or equivalent.
7. Adjust position of door surround panel forward so that the panel is tight to the backside of quarter panel.
8. Adjust the in/out position of the door surround panel by centering the door striker cutout in the door surround panel to the door striker.
9. Verify that the inner edge of the quarter panel flange maintains a consistent gap to the door surround panel. Adjust position as necessary.
10. Determine the thickness of shims necessary to maintain the position of the door surround panel at the shim locations indicated in (Fig. 7).
11. Remove quarter panel, door surround panel, and rocker cover panel.
12. Paint panels as necessary.
13. Install shims as determined in Step 10.
14. Apply two part polyurethane adhesive III areas indicated.
15. Install surround panel.
16. Install carpet to sill.
17. Install door sill trim panel.
18. Install seat.
19. Install quarter trim panel.
20. Install door opening weatherstrip.
21. Install rocker panel cover.
22. Install lower door interlock catch.
23. Install door latch striker.
24. Install quarter panel.
