Trunk / Liftgate Latch Release Cable: Service and Repair

RELEASE CABLE

REMOVAL

1. Remove driver's seat.
2. Release liftgate latch and open liftgate.
3. Remove rear trunk trim, side trunk trim. Refer to Trim Panel.
4. Remove trunk lining as necessary to access liftgate latch and remote release cable assembly.

5. Remove passenger compartment carpet as necessary to access remote release cable assembly (Fig. 12).
6. Remove screws attaching liftgate release handle.
7. Remove cable assembly from liftgate release handle.
8. Remove screw attaching cable assembly to liftgate latch and remove cable from liftgate latch.
9. Using a suitable drill with a 3 mm (0.125 in.) drill bit, remove pop rivets attaching latch remote to bracket on trunk pan.
10. Remove remote from bracket.
11. Remove cable assembly from cable clips.
12. Remove cable assembly from vehicle.

INSTALLATION

1. Route cable assembly from liftgate opening to passenger compartment.
2. Install cable assembly to liftgate release handle.
3. Install screws attaching liftgate release handle.
4. Install screw attaching cable assembly to liftgate latch.
5. Install remote to trunk pan bracket.
6. Install pop rivets to hold release remote to bracket.
7. Install cable assembly into cable clips.
8. Install passenger compartment carpet.
9. Install trunk lining into position.
10. Install side trunk and rear trunk trim.
11. Install driver's seat.
12. Verify liftgate operation. Adjust as necessary.
