Liftgate Hinge

LIFTGATE HINGE

REMOVAL

1. Release liftgate latch and open liftgate.
2. Support liftgate on a suitable prop rod.
3. Place tape along roof panel near the hinge to be removed.
4. Remove trunk trim panel.
5. Remove headlining as necessary to access bolts attaching liftgate hinge to the sport bar.
6. Using a suitable marking device, mark the location of the liftgate studs on the liftgate hinge.

7. Remove nuts attaching liftgate hinge to the liftgate. (Fig. 7).
8. Remove hinge cover.
9. Remove bolts attaching liftgate hinge to sport bar and retrieve any shims found between the hinge and sport bar.
10. Remove liftgate hinge from vehicle.

INSTALLATION

1. Position liftgate hinge on vehicle.
2. Position any shims retrieved during removal between the hinge and the sport bar. Install the bolts to attach the hinge to the roof panel.
3. Loosely install the nuts attaching the hinge to the liftgate.
4. Align the liftgate studs to the marks made on the hinge.
5. Tighten the nuts attaching liftgate to the liftgate hinge.
6. Install hinge cover.
7. Install headlining.
8. Install trunk trim panel.
9. Verify liftgate operation and alignment. Adjust as necessary.
